Our Attic Restoration Process and Why it is Better than the Rest

Raccoons are one of the most common wildlife problems faced by people all over the US. These animals carry rabies, spread diseases, and can do plenty of damage to your home. That’s why it’s important to remove them before they cause any harm.

Unfortunately, dealing with raccoons isn’t that simple. These animals are known to move into your attic and raise their young. While there, they make a mess, leave their waste lying around, and even destroy parts of your home.

The worst part is that it doesn’t stop there!

There are plenty of animals that can gain access to your house and with a little will power they can get through almost anything. Some common animals you might find in your attic include squirrels, rats, mice, and even bats. Rats and mice will typically gain access through a small crack or open space and then chew their way through anything to get comfortable. Squirrels are similar to both raccoons and rats/mice. They will either tear up your roof or enter through a small space to gain access. Once they are in, they also chew through anything and leave dropping everywhere. Lastly, bats are one of the more common threats that can cause a lot more damage than people think. Bats will enter your home through any small crack/crevice they can find and once inside they are known for leaving mass amounts of guano (droppings) that can cause illness and rot wood or metal potentially weakening the structure of your home.

What Is Attic Restoration?

Attic restoration is the act of undoing all the damage an animal has done. It’s centered around reverting your attic back to its original state.

When wild animals get into your attic, they do their fair share of damage. Sure, they leave urine and feces lying all over the place, stinking and staining your attic. Yet there’s much more to it.

It’s pretty common for animals to rip through your home’s insulation – the stuff that keeps your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer. These pesky critters might also gnaw through any wires in your attic, or they could chew through your walls to create gaping holes.

Why Is It Important?

Attic restoration is a vital part of wildlife removal because it undoes all of an animal’s damage. That means that you’ll be able to sit back and relax, enjoying the comfort of your home without worrying about pests.

Removing waste is one of the most important aspects. Yes, wild animals contain the vast bulk of diseases. Yet their leftover waste can still cause plenty of harm. Salmonella, histoplasmosis, and a number of other common diseases are actually caused by an animal’s waste. That’s why removing it is essential for having a disease-free home.

No one wants to step into an animal’s stool. It’s filthy and it smells. It can even stain your walls and floorboards. All of which can be fixed with attic restoration.

Animals do a lot of damage to your home’s insulation, so that’s one of the primary reasons for attic restoration. Ripped or soiled insulation can lead to a lot of harm down the road, so it will have to be replaced. If you don’t replace it, your heating bills will go off the charts!

Repairing gnawed wires is also vital. This will get your electronics running again. More importantly, it will prevent electrocution and stop a fire hazard.  Then there’s repairing the damage these animals do to your walls. The holes they create can lead to more animals showing up in the future. That’s why it’s important that they’re patched up before another pest gets in.

How Do We Do It?

We offer one of the best attic restoration services you can find. After removing the animal, we will carefully investigate the attic to figure out what needs to be done. Once we’ve done that, we get to work.

The animal’s waste is the first thing that gets cleaned up. We’ll carefully vacuum all the leftover feces, food scraps, or anything else left behind by the animal. We also remove the waste manually if it’s too big for the vacuum.

We then focus on fully disinfecting and sanitizing the area. We’ll use a special disinfectant that can get into all the small cracks or pores. It will eat up all the waste that’s too small to be seen. After which your home will be safe and free of disease.

Insulation repair is a common aspect of attic restoration. We’ll often have to remove parts of the insulation. Then we’ll find a suitable replacement substance and install it.

We’ll also carefully find and repair any damaged wiring. This may involve completely replacing the wire if it’s too damaged.

Holes will also need to be sealed. We’ll find a suitable material to cover the hole with.  We may also have to replace the surrounding bricks.

Once that’s done, your attic will be as good as new. You won’t be able to tell that an animal has been living there!
